Who Are We?

Michaela Green Photo.JPG

Michaela Green, Manager

Growing up with parents who ran a residential home I was continuously surrounded by care and the responsibilities, commitment, and passion that the industry required. Therefore, whilst obtaining my degree in accountancy I began working as a carer and worked my way up within the family business. I then gained NVQ LVLs 2,3 and 4 in Health and Social Care and became the manager of SCS in 1998 and have been since. I am a horse enthusiast and love spending time with my family.

Stella Peat,

Compliance Manager

I joined SCS in 2005 as a care worker and it was hugely rewarding to enable people to maintain their independent living as much as possible. Giving people in the community the time and patience to express themselves in the way they wish to do so and at their own pace.

I feel that I can say “I am part of the furniture by now” and over the years I have gained many different skills and lifelong experiences enabling me to continuously grow in my career path. As a Compliance Officer I am responsible for ensuring that SCS complies with its outside regulatory requirements and internal policy & procedures. My aim is to make sure SCS has measures in place that are adequately managed to face any possible risks.

I am currently in my last year of completing Counselling and Psychotherapy course which I find very interesting and empowering. In my spare time I enjoy exploring nature with my family.

Amy Clifford, Supervisor

Hi, I’m Amy, I’ve been working within care now for approximately 12 years and have gained my diplomas in health and social care. I absolutely love my job here at SCS. We are a fantastic team, more so a family. Our clients are our main priority and we all do our upmost to promote independent living helping our clients to stay at home and deliver a high standard of care. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends socialising, holidays and just living life to the full.

Michelle Gibbs, Staff Trainer

I have worked at Specialist Care Services for nearly 18 years. I started working in the community part-time when my daughter started school. The time that I spent with our clients and seeing the impact of how our care bettered their lives encouraged me to achieve several qualifications with the support of SCS, which include my NVQ LVL 2/3. SCS has provided me with opportunities to develop myself while delivering quality care and as a result I now hold the position of staff trainer. In my spare time I enjoy reading and travelling.

Kayliegh Harrison, Payroll Manager

I have been part of the team now for 12 years, I started out as part of the outreach team and enjoyed supporting our clients be part of the wider community. I offered my services one day to help the office team and I grew my skills surrounding the planning of care and admin tasks needed to support both our clients and fellow staff members. In my spare time I enjoy reading and travelling. Anyone who knows me will tell you I love to organise, and I love a checklist so my job provides me with the ability to use my organisational skills and meet deadlines to assist in the smooth running of the team. When I am not working, I love to spend time with my husband and our fur babies, especially our dog who loves walking adventures.

I started working in the healthcare field in 2011 as a care assistant and I joined the service in 2013 as an outreach support worker. In 2017 I became a senior carer and I also started assisting the office team. I have completed my NVQ LVL 2/3. I am committed to providing a high standard of care. I do not shy away from a challenge and I am always ready to deliver at work. When I am not at work I love to listen to music and spend time with my family.

Karen Hermitage, Office Administrator

I have been in the care sector for the last 15 years mainly as a home carer which I loved but when my own health got worse, I had to stop. I’ve been with SCS as part of the admin team for nearly 8 years so I’m still able to help people, just over the phone and not in their houses now, it’s the next best thing! In my spare time I enjoy going to a woman's only gym, to keep my own mobility and independence. I’m an avid cinema goer and love meals out with friends and family.

Fatima Balde, Carer

I have been working for Specialist Care Services for just over 5 years and it has been a great job experience for me. What I love the most about my job is the fact that I can assist the service users with their daily tasks. This helps maintain their autonomy when they can do things for themselves but supporting them in any way is what gives me a sense of personal fulfilment. I finished college and hope to pursue Law at university. I spend my free time with my family, listening to music and reading.

Kim Christopher, Senior Staff & Community QA

My name is Kim Christopher and I have worked within the healthcare sector for 13 years. I first began my career as a care assistant for Specialist Care Services, I worked hard and was rewarded with a promotion to field care supervisor; I completed my NVQ 2 and 3 in health and social care and this prompted me to keep going and pushed me to continue my learning journey within care. From here I then moved onto an SEN school as a teaching assistant, I enjoyed my time working with children but felt my speciality was adults, so I began working for the Royal Brompton as a HCA, again I worked my way through my bands 1-4 and became qualified in phlebotomy and cannulation. My next position was a little different and I worked for ECG training as a clinical trainer delivering courses in BLS for adults and paediatric patients with AED, Anaphylaxis awareness and moving and handling for which I hold my train the trainer and instructor qualifications. I returned to domiciliary care eventually as this is where my passion is as a manager of a small domiciliary company, however I again moved to another domiciliary company as training and recruitment manager before finally returning to Specialist Care Services which is where my heart is, I am currently working towards my level 5 NVQ in health and social care.

DJ Singh

I started my healthcare career in 2004 as a Carer and have steadily progressed through various roles, including Senior Carer, Coordinator, Risk Assessor, and currently Office Administrator and On-Call Manager. Colin Moore, Assessor

My name is Colin Moore, I am an assessor for Specialist Care Services, my job involves seeing service users and ensuring compilation of their person-centred plan of care and keeping their plan up to date as their needs change.

It is an extremely rewarding job as I feel that I achieve something every day. And no two days are ever the same. I have a son who has special needs, and this steered me into the care industry.
